Background · Colorado Springs, CO
Electrical engineer.
Flight hardware is the day job.
I lead command-and-data-handling (C&DH) engineering on a national-security space program at a Colorado aerospace prime — the computers that fly the spacecraft. Before that I spent nearly three years designing ruggedized RF, digital, and mixed-signal boards for defense and commercial customers. Side practice (turn-key PCBA) is the same bench, smaller boards.

Lead C&DH Engineer — Colorado Aerospace Prime
2023 → present
Colorado Springs / Denver · National-security space program
- Lead command-and-data-handling engineering on a national-security space program.
- Flight-hardware habits: requirements, verification, and hardware that has to work the first time.
Electrical Engineer — CAES (Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions)
2020 — 2023
Colorado Springs · Defense + commercial
- High-density digital, analog & RF on boards up to 36 layers — FPGA, PCIe Gen 4, 100GbE, SerDes, LVDS, DDR4.
- Ruggedized components for high-radiation environments; hardware → firmware → software.
- Built a custom near-field RF scanner (control software + anechoic-chamber test) and led early DARPA proposals — first-author white papers.
- Mentored by VP Advanced Technology & Engineering; customer-facing contract + partner work.
Project Engineer — Midwest Underground Technologies
2019 — 2020
Lee's Summit, MO · Utility + telecom infrastructure
- System design, testing, and logistics for critical utility/telecom deployment across the East Coast and southeast — automation tooling that cut field overhead.
Earlier roles — the long road to EE
2014 — 2019
From harnesses to substations
- Brinks Home Security — Technical Operations (2017–18); ~90% satisfaction across ~2,000 customers.
- Bushnell — interim trainer (2019); NetSuite migration + workforce prep.
- Kauffman Engineering — wire-harness & cable assemblies (2017).
- Atlas Integrated Systems — fiber/copper substation networks, SoCal utilities (2014).
Education & toolkit
Education
- B.S. Electrical Engineering, Kansas State University (2013–2018) — IC Design emphasis; Physics + Mathematics minors.
- FE / EIT track; defense-program eligibility checks completed at hire (aerospace prime).
Toolkit
- Advanced: Altium Designer, KiCad, Python, LTspice.
- Proficient: Arduino/C++, AutoCAD, SolidWorks/Fusion 360, MATLAB, PowerShell, Linux, Android, Quartus/VHDL.
- Test: near-field/far-field RF, thermal imaging, signal-tap debug, 0201-level rework.
“He had exceptional multidisciplinary technical aptitude… within days, he had independently absorbed the critical technical concepts and completed the white paper in an outstanding fashion. I gave him first author credit.”
— Dr. Michael Simon, VP Advanced Technology & Engineering, CAES · Feb 2023
